We provide real-time wildfire detection alerts via SMS text message and email
to individuals who voluntarily opt in to receive them.

When you sign up for WildfireNet alerts, we may collect:

- Mobile phone number โ to send SMS wildfire alerts
- Email address โ to send email wildfire alerts
- Location / ZIP code / city โ to send region-specific alerts relevant to you
- Opt-in consent record โ date, time, and method of consent (required by law)
We do not collect payment information, social security numbers, or sensitive personal data.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Send you wildfire detection alerts, air quality warnings, and smoke event notifications for your region
- Send you HELP responses when you text HELP to our number
- Process your opt-out when you text STOP
- Maintain records of your consent as required by TCPA and carrier regulations
- Improve the accuracy and relevance of alerts we send
We do not use your information for marketing, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to wildfire alerts.

- Message frequency: Varies based on fire and air quality activity in your region. During active wildfire events, you may receive multiple messages per day. During quiet periods, you may receive none.
- Message & data rates may apply. Standard SMS and data rates from your mobile carrier apply to all messages received.
- To opt out: Text STOP to any WildfireNet message at any time. You will receive one confirmation message and no further alerts.
- For help: Text HELP to any WildfireNet message or email [email protected]
- Supported carriers: AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and most US carriers. Carrier support may vary.
- Mobile number sharing: Your mobile phone number is NEVER shared with third parties for marketing or any other purpose.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We use Twilio (SMS delivery) and SendGrid (email delivery) to send alerts. These providers process your phone number and email solely to deliver messages on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority.
- Emergency situations: In a genuine life-safety emergency, we may share location information with emergency services.
We do not share your mobile phone number with any third party for marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes.
6. Data Retention
We retain your contact information for as long as you are subscribed to WildfireNet alerts.
When you opt out (text STOP or request removal), we will delete your mobile number from
our active alert list within 30 days. We retain opt-in/opt-out records for 4 years
as required by TCPA compliance regulations.

- Opt out of email: Click "Unsubscribe" in any alert email

8. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal
information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. This includes encrypted
data transmission, secure API key management, and access controls on our systems.
However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
WildfireNet is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal

10. Third-Party Services
Our alert system uses the following third-party services:
- NASA FIRMS โ Fire detection satellite data (no personal data shared)
- EPA AirNow โ Air quality data (no personal data shared)
- Twilio โ SMS message delivery (Twilio Privacy Policy)
- SendGrid โ Email delivery (SendGrid Privacy Policy)
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the
"Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify
active subscribers via SMS or email. Continued use of WildfireNet alerts after changes
constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
